Chats and workspaces

A workspace tells KeenKind which directory a task belongs to. General questions do not need a workspace. Select the correct directory before reading or editing project files.

  1. Add a directory in the left project area.
  2. Create a chat under that project.
  3. Confirm the expected workspace is shown near the title.

Relative paths resolve from the current workspace. Switching projects changes the file scope instead of continuing with the previous project’s files.

  • New chat: start with an empty context.
  • Rename: give long-running tasks recognizable titles.
  • Delete: move a chat to Deleted chats for later recovery or cleanup.
  • Continue in a new chat from here: copy the current and earlier turns into a new chat.

Restore or permanently delete chats in Settings > Trash > Deleted chats. Permanent deletion cannot be undone.

Branched chats have numbered titles. A branch and its original chat remain independent.

Working directory for chats without a project

Jump to Working directory for chats without a project

By default, a chat without a selected project uses the most recent default working directory. Set one in Settings > App > Working directory for chats without a project. When unset, the system default location is used.

For file tasks, select the appropriate project directory before starting the chat.

KeenKind automatically summarizes earlier content as a chat grows. Restate important constraints, file locations, and completion criteria in later messages, especially when requirements change.

The browser, file previews, and side chats belong to the current chat. Switching chats shows that chat’s panel state; returning restores the previous content.

The stop button ends the current reply and operations still running in that turn. Other chats are unaffected. Completed messages and file results are retained.
